Steak Domain!

Yesterday was date night! After many long hours of work, a date night was what I needed. Deciding what to eat in Austin, TX can be a black hole of endless options. In our search, I decided it would be a steak night. Texas is, after all, the land of cattle, and beef is a solid choice.
At first, we thought to go somewhere low-end like Texas Roadhouse. I mean, who doesn’t love their fresh rolls! As we mulled over the ideas and names of steakhouses, we decided to head to The Domain. It is a newer area in Austin, full of shops aimed at clientele above my pay grade. Needless to say, we ended up parking and window shopping. We ended up at Fleming’s Steakhouse. As we walked in wearing our t-shirts and jeans, I knew we ran the risk of being turned away, since we didn’t have a reservation, and it was a Friday night. The hostess greeted us and said she could seat us in about 30-45 min. We were in no rush, so why the hell not.

Trekking around the Norwegian Jade

Oftentimes, people book a cruise months in advance and countdown to the exciting day, called embarkation. My husband and I booked a cruise back in January of 2017, sailing out of Miami onboard the Norwegian Jade. It was “Star Trek: The Cruise II”, hosted by ECP. Waiting for a full year would have been brutal, had we not taken some other cruises during that time.
My husband is a HUGE Star Trek fan, so when he found out there was a cruise that catered to Trekkies, he jumped at the chance. It was Star Trek all day and all night, and even haunted my dreams when I went to sleep!

Thanksgiving, a time for family, friends, and cruising? Tradition dictates you host large groups of people you are bound to by blood and cook absurd amounts of food, but what happens when you would rather be sitting on a beach waited on hand and foot instead? Book a cruise!
First, a bit about myself. I’m in my late 30’s and on my second marriage, with no biological children of my own. I have a 15-year-old stepson who sometimes spends holidays with his biological mother, which allows my husband (also in his late 30’s) and I to cruise as a childless couple a time or two per year.
